Tampa Customs Broker: What is ACE?

Work with an ACE compliant Tampa Customs Broker!

ACE_TransitionThe U.S. Customs and Border Protection department has been working on a new automated system that facilitates the importation and exportation of goods to and from the United States. The system, the Automated Commercial Environment, known more commonly as ACE, will streamline and automate the importation/exportation processes. The creation of this program comes in response to a 2014 White House Executive Order.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is working to complete the transition to ACE by December of 2016. In order to complete this goal, CBP has imposed mandatory dates for the use of ACE. The first deadline was on May 1, 2015, when all manifest filings needed to be filed through ACE. See below for the next mandatory dates.

We started prior to March 31, 2016, in compliance with CBP, processing entry summaries in ACE. The previous system, ACS, is only available for transactions with OGA, Other Government Agencies not supported by ACE until the summer of 2016. By October of 2016 the remaining portions of CBP Cargo Process will be filed on ACE. To view the full listing of requirements, visit the U.S Customs and Border Protection website.

ACE will provide customs brokers with a new, single window program to track and report, import and export transactions. The new ACE Secure Data Portal is a program designed to connect those involved in importing and exporting goods. This includes the CBP, trade partners, and any government agencies that may be involved. Visit CBP’s website  and review the Trade Automated Interface requirements with other government agencies.

ACE also makes it easy for users to track and monitor their daily operations. It will allows for customs brokers to evaluate their compliance with the importation and exportation laws. On top of this, the ACE portal can be used to monitor all CBP data.
